I just purchased a co op e3 diesel(paint underneath is orange) with serial number 30D33418 and was wondering a couple of things since I am new to these tractors. Where is the best place to get parts for this buda diesel? Where is the best place to get parts(new and used)in general for these? How many of these were produced? I can find gassers all over but have not come by a diesel yet. What are these worth in fair running condition? I bought this at a very reasonable price from my grandpas life long friend with the agreement that I was going to restore it.(which her late husband intended on doing). I have found already that coop/cockshutt people and parts and hard to come by in Michigan. Any help would be appreciated.
Buda engines were bought up by Allis Chalmers, may be some parts there, but Allis too is now history. I found that Steiner has a lot of parts, but few engine related, mainly sheet metal etc. Not a lot of diesel 30's and not many left, more 40 & 50 diesels, esp the Perkins 270's. A&I may have parts as well . I would also try Canadian wrecking yards, as Cockshutt was a Canadian tractor, big one is Fawcett's in St. Mary's and there are a few big wreckers in the prairies. My old girl is a gasser, lots of them around.
Hi there. You have a very unique tractor there. The fenders show it as a 1952 built in Feb to April 52. I have a 40 with those style of fenders also. They were used for only 2 months or so. The diesel and 3 point make it even better!
I have a bit of a collection of 30 parts here - all gas though. If you need something let me know.
We've overhauled and painted the old girl since these pics were taken. I had no idea those fenders were that rare. Do you have another set of those fenders? My body guy pieced them together best he could, but they're still a little ugly.
No I only have the pair on my 40 I am putting together. They are made to slope back when they are mounted as opposed to the ones before and after which stood straight up and down. I do have a good set of the newer style straight ones if you would want to switch them. If those are useable at all, it would be best to keep it original, at least for my taste.
I'm rebuilding my E4 gas. I found cylinder kits from Howard Enterprises (Indiana) through Rick's Ag Parts neat Wooster, Ohio. I can't remember if they also made diesel kits. The only A-C tractor that used Budas was the very late WD-45 with the 6BD230. I think only the last two years.
That Buda engine website hasn't worked in years. I did get in touch with James Cousins last spring but he didn't have much.
That is where I got most of the engine parts for this. James was very helpful. He had everything I needed except sleeves, but he located some for me. Nothing was cheap, but was worth it in the end. Purrs like a kitten now. Wish I would have knew of the place you got your parts. This was the only place I could find diesel parts.
I'm working on scanning in the original parts manuals for E3 and E4 and some old COOP and Cockshutt sales literature from when my father-in-law bought one of his.
