Your first number indicates a 6 cyl Buda 230 CID.  One of the next numbers is the engine serial number. It would be the number that is stamped below the others on the plate.  The 3rd number is still a mystery to me so I'll have to continue my research
I have a Coop 30 (Cockshutt 30)..... 4B153.   Also I think your Cockshutt may be a 1951 according to the S/N you indicated.

Thanks  daddy-b for the info. The serial #'s I have came from Yesterday's TractorCo. and the guy I bought it frome says it's a 1950.
The site lists Cockshutt Moder 40 Year 1950 Srarting Serial # 194 and 1951 Starting Serial # at 4101.
Sounds to good to be true That I would have gotten the last one made in 1950. What other source is there to verify serial numbers and years.
Thanks again

Your Cockshutt 40 is nearly identical to my (49) Coop 30 even down to the hydraulic setup you have. Got my serial no. info from The Cockshutt Shed at:
http://users.xplornet.com/~jackson5/shed/product2.html so don't know which is more accurate. Would hope that Yesterday's Tractors would be the accurate one so I'll concede to you.

According to my chart (found in "Cockshutt The Complete Story") book. The 1951 40's started with serial number 4098 and ended with 6895.

Thanks cockshutt 560. I have not seen the complete story book but would love to. I want to know for sure and the info I have seen is what I posted.
This site is great and I want accurate info.
I see we are in the same state. Your E-mail tab does not work.
Thanks,
Bob
