screw in front of govenor housing ??? What is it's purpose ??

Hi All,

What is the purpose of the screw in the front of the govenor housing.
Do you need to prime with oil ?? or is this for see if oil fills inside when running ??
A little exeprtise on the use and function of this screw.

Well the parts books list it as, T5422, 1 Plug, Pipe, Governor Body (S/N 9953 -). I don't have a service manual but from looking at the parts picture it appears to be an inspection port.

Yeah that's my guess also, some sort of inspection or to see if oil is flowing to lubricate the govenor...

The screw is there to enable you to install and remove a pin that is located inside the governor. Your pin punch has to go through that screw hole to gain access.

I thought it was for the governor shaft pin, too.  But I acquired a Buda service manual recently and it's for a surge adjustment.
