The Big Pine Cockshutts

Well, spring is in the air! I took my Cockshutt 60 out of the shop today and took her for a spin around the yard. She fired up like she was brand new. gotta love that.

I have a 1937 Cockshutt 70 down in the front yard. I screwed up with that one, she's been parked there for 6 months and won't move! Didn't get her put away in time, and she froze to the ground! didn't get a couple of planks under her before the ground froze. I tried breaking her loose with the Cockshutt 60, and tried driving her out, but to not avail!

Anyways, I went down to check it out today, turned on the fuel, give her two notches on the trottle and one twist on the old hand crank with the choke on, and away she went! I was prettyy happy.

When the ground dries up a little, I'll bring her up to the shop. Actually, why am I calling it she!?!? His name is Oliver! I'll see how it goes, and perhaps post a few pictures.

Well the weather is getting a bit better, drying up real nice. Not so wet as last spring.

Thought I'd get out and get some fresh air and take a few pictures of a couple  of my tractors, soon it will be time to start working on them a little. I'll post some pictures later in the day if they turn out.

Well, it was a great day today. the weather couldn't be better. Things are drying up real nice again today, so I spent the morning picking rocks out of the field. Had my 2 year old Canadian follow me around.... she a pretty friendly and curious creature.

Anyways, got things cleaned up pretty good and thought it might be an idea to fire up the old Cockshutts and take them for a bit of a run around the yard.

The older one is a '37 Cocksutt 70. Started up right away!

The "newer" one is a '48 Cockshutt 60. Had a bit of a struggle getting the 60 going.... amazing what a bit of fuel will

 do for you.P1010968.JPG

Hope you all had a great day, and Happy Easter

Cheers

Bill

Seeing that the weather is so great, we decided to work a little at reclaiming some of our property and work a little at opening up some new trails.

Seems our new Cockshutt 60 was up to the task. Lots more to go!!
