My 1947 Co-op E3 which I purchased just a few weeks ago has a strange thing going on with the amp gauge.....now that I have it running well I noticed that as I advance the throttle the amp gauge shows a deeper and deeper discharge....I am wondering if it might be wired backwards? The battery is new and it runs very well...but I am curious why the gauge shows discharge when throttled up....at idle it is nearly on zero r just on the discharge side of zero....I think it make be indicating in reverse....any thoughts?
Get a volt meter on the battery and check to see if the voltage goes up as you increase the throttle. If it does switch the wires on the ammeter and it should read correct then.
I checked the voltage to the battery while the tractor was idling and the generator is feeding 8 volts back to the battery....a good thing, so obviously the ammeter is wired backwards...gad....
