I'm trying to find the color, too.  I have a 46 and a 50 E-3 but my FIL had them both repainted red.  I have a spare governor housing with real clean paint that I'm going to try to match at S-W.  I'll post if I get something.

red (you're not quite as old as I)

I went to a S-W automotive paint store.  Came up with a real good match in Advanced Industrial Coatings (AIC) brand #48855 from their universal color line.  I used the rear engine plate from my E4 for a sample.  There was some paint across the top of the plate that was well protected under the clutch cover.  But it's a '51 so may not be the same as your '47.
