I recently was given my grandfather's 1948 Co op E3 for my son's 4-H project. The plan was to restore including paint, however, the tractor maintains so much of it's original paint my son and I wonder if we should.
If we don't, what is the best way to de-grease, remove rust and preserve the existing paint.
And yes, the wheels are inside out with weights, my grandfather did this to widen the stance due to steep hills on the farm. We already had to reverse them to get the tractor on the trailer.
that is a very nice original.I agree with leaving it that way, maybe try some soap and water with a light pressure washing just be careful.I'm sure others may have better ideas with more experience but that is all I can come up with.Try yesterdays tractors as well lots of knowledgeable folks on there(paint & body section) could help.and lastly clear coat after clean.
