RE: Cockshutt 30 - Front of Govenor Overheating

Hi All,

I have reinstalled the buda engine due to a front oil seal leak and all went OK.
There is no leaks but at the front of the Govenor.  So I tightened the botls a bit more as I used Permatex The Right Stuff gasket maker.  When I tightened and ran the motor and the front of the govenor started to turn red HOT, in the centre.
I shut the engine down and it cooled down.

I suspect that the bolts were tightened to tight and I didn't put enough gasket maker on. I plan on taking the front govenor off and re-gasket.

What are the tolerances on the bolts of the front govenor when using gasket maker??
Any suggestions ??  Should I check for damage on the inside of govenor ??

Any suggestions is appreciated.

Tony.

Take the cover off and look for rubbing on the inside. If you didn't use a gasket the clearance between the cover and rotating parts may have been reduced to the point the parts are now rubbing each other.
