Hi folks,I posted this question a few weeks ago but not in the right area.I have a 50D deluxe that I mainly use at antique pulls and parades.I'm sure it's Buda engine has lots of running time on it but it's power still checks out real good on a dyno(62 hp@535 pto rpm w/ the pump turned up to peak performance).I keep the fuel pressure up when pulling but decrease it to stock when using it for anything else.As far as I know the engine, injecters and pump have never been rebuilt, and the timing is correct. It starts as it should cold, needing a good pre-heating below 50 but runs good as it warms up with the usual amount of blue smoke. When it's warmed up and shut off(or stalled),it hates to restart immeadiatly if I try.It turns over as it should but displays no smoke out the exhaust as if it weren't getting any fuel. The hotter it gets, the harder it starts.Usually I have to wait 10-15 minutes before it will restart. The engine never exceeds normal operating temp,or turns over hard when trying to start,It just won't fire.If I turn the injecter pump pressure screw in, increasing the fuel pressure,it's more likely to start. If I turn the pressure screw out to obtain the stock low 50's hp,the engine is not likely to start unless it cools for 15 minutes.I had a model 40D some years ago that acted in just the same way.Never did get it fixed.I'm thinking maybe the pump is worn and loses it's pressure when it's hot,but yet the tractor runs good and never lacks for power, hot or cold.Anyone got any sugestions where to look for problems?
